P2P Consulting

Peer-to-Peer Consulting is simple and effective.

The idea behind is that people working in the same company or with similar professional background are qualified enough to help each other. They offer advise, ideas, experiences, and at any rate a fresh view on one's issue.  Sometimes, the process of describing and clarifying one's problem or challenge to others, one does not feel dependent on, can be very stimulating and enlightening.

The process is easy and short (1,5-2,5 hours). It is sketched out above (can be downloaded)

However, even the simplest processes can go wrong. So please consider the following:

  • Ideal group size is 6-9 peers.
  • Everybody is equal - and equally contributing.
  • Everyone wants to share, to learn and to develop. Everyone should be the client at least once.
  • Everything stays confidential within the group.
  • Cases should always be in the professional context - the faciltiator takes care that the group is not getting into personal stuff. No-one should get exposed.
  • The one who gives the case - the client - has the say: he or she decides which direction the consultants should query and brainstorm. He or she selects the proposal he or she likes  best - without justification. He or she does not "owe" anything to the consultants.
  • The facilitator plays a key role in managing the process and the dynamics of the group.
  • It might be of help to have an experienced, independent facilitator when installing such a P2P-consulting process.
